Virginia Commonwealth Award:
The Virginia Commonwealth Award is a need based grant for Virginia residents attending public two year or four year Virginia colleges. This grant is eligible for renewal and available for both undergraduate and graduate students.Â
Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program:
The Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program takes into account both financial need and academics, as there is a GPA and a test score requirement. Students must be enrolled full-time at a Virginia public college or university, and be working towards an approved degree. As long as the student keeps up with the requirements, their awards can be renewed for up to three years.Â
Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant Program:
The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant Program is for Virginia students who plan on attending a private, nonprofit college or university in Virginia. There are 29 eligible institutions, and applications for this grant must be submitted directly to the institution’s financial aid office.Â
Virginia tuition reciprocity agreements
Tuition Reciprocity is an exchange program that allows students to attend schools in partner states at a discounted tuition rate. Virginia is a part of the Southern Regional Education Board Academic Common Market, which allows students going to public institutions to out-of-state schools and pay in-state tuition, if their degree is not offered in their home state.
