    State grants in Mississippi 

    HELP – Higher Education Legislative Plan for Needy Students: 

    The Higher Education Legislative Plan for Needy Students (HELP) program is a grant for Mississippi students based on financial need. If a student is eligible for this grant, then they could get their tuition covered for up to four years of higher education at a public institution.

    MTAG – Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant: 

    The Mississippi Tuition Assistance Grant (MTAG) is a need-based grant for Mississippi students attending private not-for-profit or public schools. The pre-approved list of institutions includes both two-year and four-year colleges. This grant can be renewed for up to four years as long as the student remains full-time, and rewards are typically more for juniors and seniors then freshmen and sophomores. 

    MESG – Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant:

    The Mississippi Eminent Scholars Grant (MESG) is a merit based grant based on academic performance. In order to be eligible, you must be a Mississippi student, meet the GPA and the ACT or SAT requirements. The grant can be renewed for up to 12 semesters, as long as the student remains at full time status at an approved institution. 

    Mississippi tuition reciprocity agreements

    Tuition Reciprocity is an exchange program that allows students to attend schools in partner states at a discounted tuition rate. Mississippi is a part of the Southern Regional Education Board Academic Common Market, which allows students going to public institutions to out-of-state schools and pay in-state tuition, if their degree is not offered in their home state.
