State Grants in Georgia

Most states offer their own state-wide grants to help residents obtain an affordable education. Here are some of the most prominent state-wide grants in Georgia:

HOPE Scholarship

The HOPE Scholarship offers funding for Georgia residents with exceptional academic achievement who wish to pursue higher education in-state. It can be used at public as well as select private schools.

Georgia Tuition Equalization Grant Program (GTEG)

The GTEG Program helps to bridge the gap between public and private education by offering funds for Georgia residents attending a select private Georgia institution. It does not take financial need into account.

Georgia Tuition Reciprocity Agreements

Georgia is a member of the Academic Common Market, which offers tuition reciprocity for select programs in partner states. That means from these states can get tuition discounts at select programs in Georgia, and vice-versa. Here is a list of the other states enrolled in the ACM for undergraduate studies:

Frequently asked questions

What is the hardest Georgia college to get into?

Emory University had the lowest acceptance rate in Georgia, with 13% of applicants admitted in 2023. Georgia Institute of Technology had a similarly low rate, with 16% of applicants admitted.

While both of these schools are competitive, the low admission rates should not deter you from applying. Remember, your application can always catch an admissions officer’s eye, and everyone should apply to at least a couple of reach schools!

Why should I study in Georgia?

Georgia is home to many prestigious academic institutions, including University of Georgia, Emory, and Georgia Tech. It’s also a state with a wealth of culture and a relatively low cost of living. There’s also a thriving job market in Atlanta, which can help students find work and internships and set them up for success after graduation.
