Frequently asked questions about colleges in West Virginia

What is the hardest school in West Virginia to get into?

The school with the lowest acceptance rate in West Virginia is the West Virginia Institute of Technology with an acceptance rate of 66%. When it comes to applying to schools with a lower acceptance rate, remember that there are many factors that go into admissions beyond just numbers and it never hurts to apply!

Does West Virginia have tuition reciprocity?

Yes! West Virginia is one of the 15 states in the Southern Regional Education Board Academic Common Market. This means students have the opportunity to go to out of state schools, and still receive discounted in-state tuition.

Why should I study in West Virginia?

For starters, West Virginia has great opportunities for those who love the outdoors, with the Appalachian Mountains being a great place for any hikers or just people who appreciate a mountain view. The state has a somewhat lower cost of living, which is especially important for students. West Virginia falls within the southern region of the country, so students will be able to experience a sense of southern hospitality, while still getting a good quality education. Many of West Virginia’s postsecondary institutions are smaller to medium sized, so if you are looking for more of a close knit community, this might be a great place for you!
