State grants in Minnesota

Minnesota State Grant

The Minnesota State Grant is awarded to Minnesota students based on financial need. There are more than 130 eligible Minnesota institutions where this grant can be applied, including public universities, technical colleges and community colleges. Students can apply for this grant through the FAFSA, and will be notified about their award status when they receive their federal financial aid offer. 

Minnesota Indian Scholarship

If you are a Michigan resident who is at least 1/4th Native American in Ancestry, or if you are a member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Canadian First Nation, then you may be eligible for the Minnesota Indian Scholarship. Other eligibility criteria include being enrolled at ¾ the least or full time status at your institution and meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Minnesota tuition reciprocity agreements 

Minnesota is a part of the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC). This organization comes from legislation that made it so 12 midwestern states can work together to provide tuition discounts. Most of these discounts come in the form of providing out-of-state students the opportunity to pay in-state tuition.
