The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute Engineering/Geology Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for students at a four-year school who are looking to pursue a career in the mining industry. To be eligible, applicants must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of one of the RMMI member states (Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, or Wyoming). Additionally, they must be pursuing a degree in a mining-related field or in one of the engineering disciplines such as mining, geology, mineral processing, metallurgy, electrical, mechanical, or environmental. The selected students will receive an all-expense paid trip to the RMMI Annual Meeting and Conference in late June, where they will have the chance to meet industry leaders and attend all of the technical sessions. The Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute Technical Scholarship annually awards $2,000 to students from an RMMI Member State who are pursuing a degree in a mining-related field or in engineering disciplines such as mining, geology, mineral processing, metallurgy, electrical, mechanical, and environmental. The monetary value of the scholarship will be sent directly to the college or university to be used as tuition credit for the winner. The scholarship is valued at up to $5,000 over a three-year period ($2.000 for the initial application, $2,000 for first renewal, and $1,000 for second renewal).
