Are you a graduate student pursuing a career in economics or another social science? If so, you might be interested in applying for the Hsiao Memorial Social Sciences Scholarship! The scholarship is open to graduate students pursuing a social sciences/economics degree. Preference will be given to those with Asian heritage and who study/research topics that benefit those in economic need, but neither is required.  The scholarship is offered by the Asian Pacific Fund, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California. They look to strengthen the Asian and Pacific Islander community by supporting vulnerable members through philanthropy. The program is in honor of Liang-Lin Hsiao who was a professor of economics at Indiana State University. Every year, the scholarship awards $1,000 to help a lucky recipient cover tuition and other educational costs. The Judge Sidney M. Aronovitz Memorial Scholarship annually awards between $1,000 and $3,000 to multiple Miami-Dade County minority students planning to continue their education through the university level and pursue a career related to the legal field or social justice issues. Applicants must be high school seniors graduating in May or June of this year or GED students no older than 19 years of age attending a Miami-Dade County Public School. The scholarship was jointly created by the Aronovitz Family and The Miami Foundation to honor the memory of the late Judge Sidney M. The Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship is intended to assist high school seniors from ethnic minority groups who will be entering their first year of college in the state of Kansas. Eligible ethnic/racial groups include: African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Hispanic. Applicants must have also done one of the following: (1) received an ACT score of at least 21 or SAT of at least 1060 - 1090, (2) received a cumulative high school GPA of 3.00 or higher, or (3) held a high school rank in the upper 33%, (4) completed the Kansas Scholars Curriculum, (5) been selected by the National Merit Corporation in any category, or (6) been selected by College Board as a Hispanic Scholar. To be eligible for the grant, you must be an active member of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and enrolled full-time at an ATS-accredited seminary. While applicants pursuing a MACE degree don't need to be an Inquirer/Candidate, those pursuing a MDiv degree (or MDiv/Dual Degree) must be an Inquirer or Candidate when entering years 1 and 2 and a Candidate when entering year 3.
