Resources for Asian students
As an Asian student, you have access to a wide variety of organizations that can help you meet people around the country who have similar personal or professional interests. Joining these groups can help you to network, land a job or internship, and even earn scholarship funds. The CelebrASIAN conference is a great example of this for Asian students interested in business and development.
It’s also becoming increasingly common for colleges to collect a hub of resources for students of different heritages. Pages such as this hub on Wellesley’s site can be very useful to find organizations and resources for Asian students tailored specifically to their college or geographical region. If your school doesn’t have a page like this, try reaching out to your Asian student union or to a campus life representative.
Frequently asked questions about scholarships for Asian students
Are there scholarships for Asian women available?
If you are an Asian female looking for more scholarships, you can check out our top scholarships for women which will have some other great opportunities to apply for.
Are there any specific college merit scholarships for Asian students?
It really depends on the school! We’d suggest starting with this list of colleges that award merit aid as a first step. You can also check in with the specific colleges on your list. Many of them will offer scholarships that are aimed to support specific groups of students. For instance, the Trustee Opportunity Scholarship at Kenyon College aims to support all underrepresented students, including Asian and Pacific Islander students.
Do I qualify for these scholarships if I am only half Asian?
Generally, yes! For the most part, there is no specific requirement for the percentage of Asian heritage you must have to apply for these scholarships. Students who are only one quarter, and sometimes even one eighth, might apply. Unless it lists a specific benchmark, which would be very unusual, you should be fine.
