The Archaeology of Portugal Fellowship can be used by awarded to archaeologists and archaeology graduate students to support research and study either in Portugal or the United States. Non-Portuguese applicants may conduct research related to the archaeology of Portugal, including the Autonomous Regions of the Azores and Madeira. Portuguese applicants, however, can use the fellowship to support research and study in the US in any archaeological region and topic of their choosing. To be eligible, applicants from Portugal who already hold Ph. D.s must have been AIA members in good standing for at least one year by the time of application. Further, Portuguese graduate students wishing to study in the United States must be enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited US university or college, and must provide evidence that they have been authorized to travel to and study in the US. Coleman Traveling Fellowship is open to AIA graduate and professional members who will use the award money to fund travel and study in Italy, the western Mediterranean, or North Africa, between July 1 of the award year and the following June 30.
