Fulbright Canada and Carleton University have established dedicated research chairs in support of educational programming and research. This opportunity will allow extraordinary American scholars and top-tier applied researchers to spend one academic year as a visiting research scholar working in a targeted area of academic inquiry. Eligible topics of inquiry include the Arts and Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship and/or Social Innovation, Environmental Science, Society, Policy, and Media. The scholarship is open to students enrolled at a participating undergraduate institution who will be graduating during the same academic year as the deadline, or who have graduated from a participating institution in the past 12 months. The Winston Churchill Foundation has offered the scholarship since its establishment during the founding of Churchill College, Cambridge. Since its inception, recipients of the scholarship have been awarded $65,000 for one year of study at the University of Cambridge for an MPhil (Master of Philosophy) or MASt (Master of Advanced Study) degree. The Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (The Australian National University) will award one student who will then undertake collaborative research with faculty in the arts, humanities, and social sciences at The Australian National University (ANU). The selected Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Science, Technology, and Innovation (CSIRO) will conduct innovative scientific research related to critical challenges facing the U.S. and Australia. During their term (5-6 months), the Chair will work on a specific research project aligned with priority areas of research for CSIRO that will lead to ongoing collaborative partnerships between Australia and the U.S. The Chair will also be expected to engage in outreach and networking activities within CSIRO and across the Australian Innovation system through occasional guest lectures, seminars, and/or community interactions. The "Fulbright Bicentennial Chair in American Studies" award is open to Ph.D. and Terminal Degree holders interested in both conducting research and teaching courses in American Studies at universities throughout Finland. Selected scholars will be required to teach one survey course per semester to third-year Bachelor's students, as well as teach one seminar per semester in their area of expertise to master's level students. Scholars will also be invited to participate in the program's Ph.D. seminar and in the development of the North American Studies program in general, be encouraged to give occasional guest lectures at other Finnish universities, and be invited to participate in Fulbright Finland Foundation activities as an application reviewer and interviewer.
