If so, the LeBlanc/Baker Scholarship for Change may be a great opportunity for you! Each year, the scholarship awards up to $4,000 to multiple Black male high school seniors who will be attending a UNCF Member Institution or HBCU and have a GPA that is over 2.0, but under 3.0. Recipients may be eligible for awards for up to four (4) additional years within a five (5) year period so long as they "maintain academic standing consistent with the student’s institution standards for continued enrollment." The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Lambda Scholarship may be a good fit for you! The scholarship is funded by LULAC Lambda itself. LULAC Lambda is one of 1,000 local councils across the United States affiliated with the League of United Latin American Citizens, the nation’s largest and oldest Latinx civil rights volunteer-based organization. One of the goals of LULAC is to increase access to education, so it encourages local councils like LULAC Lambda to sponsor scholarships. As part of the scholarship, LULAC awards multiple $1,000 scholarships which can be used for any educational expense. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to multiple post-secondary students of Scottish birth or heritage. Bear in mind that applicants from the United States must also hold permanent residence in the Mid-Atlantic Region (the District of Columbia, the States of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, and the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia). Are you a LGBTQ+ high school student-athlete in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area? The Team DC Student-Athlete Scholarship may be a good fit for you! Each year, Team DC offers $2,000 scholarships to a number of self-identified LGBTQ+ high school seniors in the D.C. metropolitan area who have made a contribution to a sport they are passionate about. The funds can be used to offset any educational expenses the student may face as they enter a two or four-year accredited college or university. Since 2008, Team DC has been able to award $112,000 in scholarships to promising young LGBTQ+ athletes/role models.  Being open about your sexuality as a young person is incredibly difficult.
