Each year, Team DC offers $2,000 scholarships to a number of self-identified LGBTQ+ high school seniors in the D.C. metropolitan area who have made a contribution to a sport they are passionate about. The funds can be used to offset any educational expenses the student may face as they enter a two or four-year accredited college or university. Since 2008, Team DC has been able to award $112,000 in scholarships to promising young LGBTQ+ athletes/role models. Being open about your sexuality as a young person is incredibly difficult. It is so admirable to live as your authentic self and provide hope and inspiration for other LGBTQ+ athletes.
