The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

Scholarship Overview

The AFCEA DC STEM Scholarships are here to support Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. residents’ dreams of higher education in the exciting STEM fields. If you’re a graduating high school senior or a second-year student in a two-year community college looking to transition to a four-year college or university, this scholarship is for you. As long as you meet the above requirements and have been accepted to a U.S.-accredited college or university to pursue a full-time STEM curriculum, you’re eligible to apply. Eligible fields of study include computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, cybersecurity, management information systems, various types of engineering, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I)-related fields of study. In addition to the below application materials, interested students must submit a list of all expenses they expect to pay toward college, a copy of their Expected Family Contribution (EFC), a summary and statement from their guidance counselor, and if applicable, their AFCEA Member number.
