Fall is one of the busiest times of the year for students. After all, fall is the season when school starts which means classes, homework, sports, and other activities. For students who are high school seniors, the fall also means that college admissions and scholarship deadlines are just around the corner.

For all students, fall is a great opportunity to get into the habit of applying for scholarships. Every single dollar that you earn through scholarships is a dollar that you don’t have to pay in tuition, room, or board. This can lead to big savings if you were planning on taking out student loans (because it means that you eliminate your debt and student loan interest).

** Lead generation scholarships will require students to sign up for an app or website and require minimal (if any) application requirements.
***Idea harvesting scholarships will require students to submit blog posts or other materials that companies may use for marketing purposes.

Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, stood out amongst his peers for his exceptional speaking skills. These skills would eventually gain him the nickname "The Great Communicator," and were sometimes attributed to his previous experience as a radio broadcaster and film actor. In honor of his legacy as a President and impressive orator, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute annually hosts the Ronald Reagan Oratory Competition! To participate in the competition, applicants must be 5th - 12th-grade students who submit a presentation (video) of themselves reciting excerpts of Ronald Reagan's Presidential speeches/addresses. Students will be judged on the following criteria: (1) capturing President Reagan's warmth through strong eye contact, articulation, body language, tone, and pacing, (2) faithfulness to source material, emotional connection, and an understanding of the message, and (3) engagement, memorability, and overall presentation. The top five applicants from the Middle School (5th - 8th grade) category and the High School (9th - 12th grade) category will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Southern California for the Finals on January 10. While the Middle School finalists will also receive a discount on future Reagan Education Programs, the High School finalists will be granted an opportunity to compete for the grand prize of $1,000. If you'd like to honor President Reagan's legacy and hone your public speaking skills, we encourage you to apply!Show Less

The "Spirit of Auburn University" is encompassed in the "Auburn Creed," a speech made by George Petrie, a college professor, historian, and coach of Auburn's first football team, in 1943. His speech emphasizes the importance of hard work, education, and honesty. If you, like George, are an Alabama Native and want to re-instill the "Auburn Creed" at Auburn University, you're in luck! Every year, the Spirit of Auburn University Scholarship awards an average of $5,000 to academically impressive incoming freshmen from Alabama. Specifically, applicants must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA and an ACT score between 28 and 29. To be considered for the scholarship, interested students must simply apply to Auburn University by December 1st and have been accepted for Early Action admission by early February - no additional application is required. Bear in mind that the earlier you apply (and are accepted) for admission, the more likely you are to win a scholarship. The scholarship is renewable for four years. The Spirit of Auburn University Scholarship is just one of the many competitive merit scholarships offered by Auburn University. If you're not sure whether you qualify for this scholarship, be sure to check out the Spirit of Auburn Presidential Scholarship, Spirit of Auburn Founders Scholarship, AU Academic Presidential Scholarship, AU Academic Heritage Scholarship, or AU Academic Charter Scholarship as well.
