Top public health scholarships overall
Our editorial team chose the following mental health scholarships by looking at three factors: Award amount, reliability of the offering institution, and wide eligibility requirements. That means each of these scholarships has been offered for some time, has a substantial reward, and a variety of students should be eligible to apply.

How to win public health scholarships
Because public health is a somewhat more of a specific sector of health care, you might find there to be more graduate opportunities than there are undergraduate. If you are about to be or currently an undergraduate student, you might want to broaden your search to be medicine as a whole. Better yet, start looking into local scholarships in your community, or ask about any opportunities within your school or potentially your school’s public health education department (if available).
Another thing to note is that because healthcare is typically somewhat of a rigorous course of study, scholarship providers will be on the lookout for applicants who show a keen interest in the field not only through their academics, but through their extracurriculars and essays as well.
If you’re looking to gain medical experience in high school, see if any hospitals or doctor’s offices near you are taking on volunteers or interns. This can be a great way to gain experience for your resume and to write about in scholarship application essays.
As for your essays, the key is to keep things concise and impactful. Check out some of our guys like how to write a 250 word and 500 word essay, how to write about yourself, and how to write a winning scholarship essay.
