How to win scholarships for horticulture or floriculture

If you’re passionate about horticulture or floriculture, your scholarship application should demonstrate your understanding and experience in the field. This will help you stand out from other applicants.

Start by outlining your academic and extracurricular experiences in horticulture and/or floriculture. Some of questions that you can get started with are:

  • Have you taken courses in plant biology, propagation, or landscape design?
  • Have you volunteered at a botanical garden or participated in a gardening club?
  • What inspired your interest in plant biology or gardening?

In your application, show how your experiences have prepared you to pursue a career in horticulture or floriculture. It’s always helpful to get specific–for instance maybe you have a particular interest in a niche like sustainable landscaping or plant genetics.
