Offered by North Country Garden Club of Long Island, Inc.
In honor of a long-time member of the North Country Garden Club of Long Island, Inc., the Virginia W. Smith Scholarship was established in 2004 to recognize Virginia’s commitment to horticulture, conservation, and environmental studies.
Since then, the scholarship has awarded $2,500 each to over thirty Long Island high school seniors who, like Virginia, plan to pursue further studies and a career in horticulture, conservation, environmental sustainability, or green initiatives. To be considered for the scholarship, interested students must submit two essays, two letters of recommendation, and a transcript.
If you’re a college-bound, environment-minded Long Island high school senior, we encourage you to apply! Keep on reading to learn more and continue growing your green.
