Top Alabama scholarships
Linly Heflin Scholarship
- Eligibility: Open to Alabama women seeking to attend four-year Alabama colleges and universities. Students can be high school seniors, college freshman, college sophomores, or college juniors
- Amount: $7,000 per year for four years (or until graduation)
- Deadline: Opens October 1st each year. Application deadline is in early January
CollegeCounts Scholarship
- Eligibility: High school seniors or first-time college freshman who are Alabama residents planning on enrolling in an Alabama eligible educational institution. Must demonstrate financial need and have a 2.75+ GPA
- Amount: $2,000 – $4,000
- Deadline: Opens December 1st of each year. Application deadline is February 28
Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants Scholarships
- Eligibility: The ASCPA Educational Foundation awards General, Diversity in Accounting, Financial Need, and CPA Exam Scholarships each year
- Amount: $2,500
- Deadline: Opens January 3, 2023. Application deadline is in mid-March
Central Alabama Community (CAC) Foundation Scholarships
- Eligibility: CAC Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to Alabama students in high school and college who reside in the following counties: Montgomery, Lowndes, Macon, Pike, Cullman, Elmore, Coffee, Dale, Geneva, Henry, and Houston Counties
- Amount: Varies based on scholarship
- Deadline: Varies between March 1 – April 1st of each year
Dr. Paul H. Waddy, Jr. Scholarship
- Eligibility: Major in a professional field of study in which East Alabama Health has an actual or projected need. Applicants must be currently enrolled as undergraduates with at least two years remaining and be African American males. Must have a 3.0+ GPA and demonstrate a record of community service
- Amount: Up to $24,000
- Deadline: Twice annually, on the first Friday of May and first Friday of October
Sharon L. Gess Memorial Scholarship
- Eligibility: Undergraduate nursing majors at 2 or 4 year institutions with four semesters remaining. Must be an African American female with a GPA of 3.0+
- Amount: Up to $30,000
- Deadline: Twice annually, on the first Friday of May and first Friday of October
Central Alabama Electric Cooperative Foundation Scholarship Program
- Eligibility: Graduating high school seniors in CAEC’s service area attending a four-year college, a junior college, a technical school or vocational school in Alabama
- Amount: $2,500
- Deadline: Early May annually
Alabama Student Assistance Program (ASAP)
- Eligibility: Alabama residents with demonstrated financial need attending one of the 80 Alabama institutions that are part of ASAP. Students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Amount: $300 – $5,000
- Deadline: Varies based on college, so contact your institution for more information
Community Foundation of South Alabama Scholarships
- Eligibility: The Community Foundation of South Alabama offers a variety of scholarships for specific institutions, counties, and areas of study for residents of Southwest Alabama. Applicants from Conecuh, Clarke, Baldwin, Mobile, and Monroe counties are eligible
- Amount: Varies based on scholarship

The University of Alabama

Tuskegee University

University of Alabama, Birmingham
- Eligibility: University of Alabama, Birmingham offers merit scholarships for incoming first-years. Scholarships are merit-based according to ACT/SAT and GPA, and open only to legal residents of Alabama
