Steps to receive Home Depot’s Tuition Reimbursement
1. Apply for a job at your local Home Depot
You can view open positions by visiting Home Depot’s career website and inputting your location. Remember, this program applies to both hourly and salaried employees. Jobs in stores, distribution centers, or corporate offices are all fair game.
Given the rise in remote working, there is also a separate search option for virtual and hybrid positions. For many employees, working from home allows them to better balance family demands. Remote work is also a great solution if you do not live close to a Home Depot. After just one day of employment, you can participate in its tuition reimbursement program.

2. Choose your program of study
Home Depot will help pay for employees’ associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, or technical degrees. Home Depot has partnered with several schools that offer discounted tuition rates for its students. However, employees can opt to study at any accredited college, university, or technical school of their choosing.
Home Depot’s policy sponsors a few certification programs, as well. It covers language proficiency certifications and The American Heart Association CPR AED course. Additionally, if you are interested in IT, there are four routes available. You can earn the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP),Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB), or Java Certification.

3. Make sure your courses will receive credit
Your chosen courses must be from an accredited institution and start after your hire date. Home Depot requires that you remain an active employee for the duration of the class. You also need to earn a “C” grade or above, or a “Pass” if the course is evaluated pass/fail.
There are some separate requirements for the American Heart Association CPR AED course. Reference Home Depot’s tuition reimbursement guide for more information if that interests you. For any IT certification, you must also submit a pre-approval form to your manager before getting started.
4. Submit your application and supporting documentation for reimbursement
Logon to your LiveOrangeLife portal. This is the site you will use to manage your employee benefits. Navigate to the “Education” tab under the “You and Your Family” dropdown header. There, you can click “Start a Tuition Reimbursement Claim.” You will then be directed to an application to submit the details of your academic program and supporting documentation.
It is essential to be on time submitting your application and additional documents. You will not be reimbursed if these materials are received more than 90 days after your course is completed.
5. Recoup some of your investment!
You can receive up to $5,000 as a salaried employee. Full-time hourly employees can receive up to $3,000, and part-time hourly roles can receive up to $1,500. These are maximum reimbursement numbers per calendar year. Keep in mind that you cannot terminate employment before you actually receive your reimbursement. So, even if your course ends and you submit your application within the 90-day time frame, you must remain an active employee until the reimbursement process is complete for payment.
