Transitioning from middle to high school can be intimidating to anyone. Graduating middle school students may anticipate an entirely new campus, new teachers, new peers, and new subjects and learning opportunities that weren't available to them before. To make this transition a little easier, REACH Georgia Scholarship offers a need-based mentoring and scholarship program providing promising students the support to graduate from high school and achieve postsecondary success. To qualify for this program, applicants must be current 7th or 8th grade students residing in a participating county school system in Georgia (see full list below). Applicants must also meet the federal income eligibility guidelines and demonstrate the capability to graduate high school with a minimum 2.5 GPA. To apply, interested students must submit an application through their school system's REACH Coordinator. Selected, eligible applicants will then move onto the next round which will include an interview portion. REACH Scholars who successfully graduate high school while maintaining eligibility requirements will earn a scholarship worth up to $2,500 per academic year. Tips for students in December

December is always a great time to finish the first half of the school year strong. Make sure to keep up with your schoolwork, and study early and often for finals. Form study groups with friends to help learn the material better and make the study process more fun.

If you’re already on break, remember that you can take advantage of the time away from class to get ahead on schoolwork or studying for any upcoming tests. The added flexibility in your winter break schedule can allow you to immerse yourself in a way that you cannot during the school year.

And remember – take some time over your holiday break to relax and spend time with your family!
