The grant is open to Muslim students wanting to make a film project featuring American Muslim characters or American Muslim themes. Since 2014, the Islamic Scholarship Fund has offered the program to support prospective Muslim filmmakers. The Islamic Scholarship Fund offers funding, mentorship, career counseling, and professional experience to increase American Muslim representation.
