The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans are funded by Paul and Daisy Soros, Hungarian immigrants and American philanthropists who established the program to "give back to the country that had afforded their family such great opportunities."  Through this scholarship, they hope to help continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans achieve leadership in their chosen fields and partake of the American dream. Each year, their Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans award up to $90,000 to multiple students under 30 years of age who are applying to graduate or professional school and are immigrants or the children of immigrants. The application for the 2025-26 academic year is open and due by October 31, 2024. Selection criteria focuses on accomplishments that show creativity, originality, and initiative and  is open to college seniors, students applying to graduate school, and those who are in the early stages of graduate school. All applicants must be planning to be enrolled full-time in an accredited graduate program in the US in the 2025-26 academic year. In addition, applicants must be 30 or younger as of the application deadline. Eligible New Americans include green card holders, naturalized citizens, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) recipients, individuals born abroad who graduated from both high school and college in the US, and the US-born children of two immigrants. The Jeff Sein Kwan Yang Memorial Scholarship is funded by the family of Jeff Sein Kwan Yang, who believed that "an education broadened a person’s opportunities and possibilities." Through the scholarship, they hope to honor Jeff Sein Kwan Yang's legacy and provide financial support to students who are immigrants or children of immigrants in their pursuit of higher education. The NYS Friends of Senator Jack Perry Migrant Scholarship is open to high school seniors in accredited New York State high schools, or high school seniors (outside of NYS) who have previously lived in or moved to New York State. The Regional Jean Degrace Crandall Memorial Scholarship will award $1,000 in post-secondary assistance to one (1) migrant farmworker or child of a migrant farmworker (with a preference for those from Mexico) with a history of migration to Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, or Westchester Counties in New York State. Though not required, but because of Jean's personal interests, students with a demonstrated interest in traditional Mexican art and culture are especially encouraged to apply. This scholarship was set up as a memorial to Jean DeGrace Crandall, educator and friend to the migrant community. She worked as a Tutor Advocate for the Mid-Hudson Migrant Education Outreach Program (MEOP), a folklorist for the Dutchess County Arts Council and was the owner/operator of La Mula Chula in Rhinebeck, a store featuring fair-trade Mexican folk art, which she imported herself.
