    • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
    • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
    • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
    • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
    • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded

The scholarship is open to high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students who are/will be studying one of SMART's ~24 approved STEM disciplines. The Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship Program is funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) and offers STEM students educational and workforce opportunities. Their mission is to “inspire, cultivate, and develop” STEM students to develop their future careers. In addition to having their full tuition expenses paid and the opportunity to partake in research internships, recipients are awarded a stipend worth between $30,000 and $46,000 a year.     Being a children's librarian is a special profession, allowing individuals to share the love of reading and learning with a new generation. In honor of one such former children's librarian, Betty Begun, the California Library Association is generously offering a $3,000 scholarship! To qualify, applicants must be continuing library school students from California who are enrolled in an ALA-accredited master's of library and information science or information studies program (applications from students at institutions actively seeking accreditation are also welcome). They must also be committed to becoming children's or young adult librarians in a California public library, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and complete all core coursework by the end of the current academic year. In addition to the monetary reward, the recipient will be granted a one-year membership to CLA (California Library Association) and will be honored at the CLA Annual Conference. If you, like Esther Schlundt, an outstanding reference librarian at Purdue University, would like to pursue a degree in library and information science, the Esther Schlundt Memorial Scholarship Fund may be the perfect fit for you! The scholarship is open to both those pursuing a graduate degree in library and information science or a Library Assistant Associate degree/public library certification course. While graduate degree applicants may earn up to $1,000, associate's degree or certification students may earn up to $750, depending upon hours enrolled. To be considered for the scholarship, interested students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, reside in Indiana, and submit two letters of recommendation, transcripts, and a short essay. Each year, the scholarships award $1,000 each to multiple library students who (1) have been accepted to and/or are registered at an ALA-accredited library school, (2) will continue enrollment for at least another semester or quarter, and (3) reside within the geographic area covered by GPLLA (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware).
