Offered by California Library Association
Being a children’s librarian is a special profession, allowing individuals to share the love of reading and learning with a new generation. In honor of one such former children’s librarian, Betty Begun, the California Library Association is generously offering a $3,000 scholarship!
To qualify, applicants must be continuing library school students from California who are enrolled in an ALA-accredited master’s of library and information science or information studies program (applications from students at institutions actively seeking accreditation are also welcome). They must also be committed to becoming children’s or young adult librarians in a California public library, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and complete all core coursework by the end of the current academic year. In addition to the monetary reward, the recipient will be granted a one-year membership to CLA (California Library Association) and will be honored at the CLA Annual Conference.
