    • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
    • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months

If you believe a scholarship has been published in error, please reach out to [email protected] and we’ll take a look!

    * There are certain exceptions to this, for example if the sponsoring organization is a major corporation or nonprofit with its own scholarship application system.
** Lead generation scholarships will require students to sign up for an app or website and require minimal (if any) application requirements.
***Idea harvesting scholarships will require students to submit blog posts or other materials that companies may use for marketing purposes.

    Resources for law enforcement students

One of the best resources a student can find is community. Many colleges offer clubs and organizations on campus, so start by looking locally. Beyond looking for criminal justice/criminology organizations at your school, there are larger organizations that are not only a great way to meet and learn from professionals in the industry you wish to work in, but also a great way to find opportunities after graduation. Here are a couple to note:

    Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences

ACJS is an international organization that focuses on furthering education and research around criminal justice. It is a great resource for students who are looking to learn more about criminal justice, as they host meetings, leadership development programs and offer discounts to their student members.

    American Society of Criminology

The American Society of Criminology is an organization that connects professionals in the criminology field. This organization also has a career center, making it an excellent resource for those looking to network and find opportunities.

Frequently asked questions about scholarships for law enforcement

Do colleges give discounts to first responders?

While not colleges offer discounted tuition to first responders, there are a select few who do! Cambridge College, for example, offers a generous discount of 50% for undergrad programs and up to 27% percent for graduate programs. The best way to find out whether you are eligible for a discount or grant at your university is to check with the office of financial aid at your school.

Can you get scholarships for a police academy?

Yes! There are scholarships for police academies specifically. Many of these scholarships are specific to certain states. There is also a chance that you can go to a police academy free of cost if you have been recruited by said academy.

    Are first responders in demand?

According to the Armed Forces Benefit Association, the expected growth rate for first responders in the U.S. is 5%. Therefore, it seems the demand for first responders such as EMTs, police officers, and firefighters isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
