It was established as a partnership between UChicago and the Western Golf Association's Evans Scholars Foundation (ESF), with the university becoming the Association's 19th partner school across the country. ESF plans to award at least four new Evans Scholarships each year to the University of Chicago, with Scholars living together in a designated residence hall. Each Spring, the FSGA Foundation selects golfers from the FJT's graduating class to be awarded a renewable four-year scholarship.
