1. Find a job at a nearby Best Buy

The first step to obtaining Best Buy’s tuition reimbursement, which seems a little obvious, is to get a job at Best Buy! Visit Best Buy’s career website to search for open positions at a nearby location. 

Best Buy offers a lot of positions including sales associate, customer service representative and much more. Be sure to choose a position that most excites you! Some of Best Buy’s requirements for tuition reimbursement includes selecting a degree that relates to your position at Best Buy. Therefore, be wise and smart about choosing a position! 

2. Obtain Best Buy tuition reimbursement eligibility 

Once you get hired, you’ll have to meet a few requirements before gaining tuition reimbursement eligibility. To be eligible you must be a full-time Best Buy employee. You also must work at least 32 hours per week and have completed at least 6 months of continuous work at Best Buy before you can take advantage of the program.

3. Complete and submit your Tuition Assistance Application

To be considered for Best Buy’s tuition reimbursement, you will have to submit a Tuition Assistance Application. You can get to this application online by visiting the Best Buy Employee Resources website. 

The first time you visit this site, you will be asked to create an account using your Best Buy employee ID. It is recommended that you submit this application before you enroll in any courses. 

4. Choose the best academic path and institution for you 

Best Buy wants to ensure that its employees are receiving an education that best fits their needs! Therefore, they offer a wide range of courses at different education levels that are available for tuition reimbursement. These include: 

  • High School level courses
  • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) 
  • Undergraduate Level (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree) 
  • Graduate Level (Masters of Business Administration or MBAs must be job-related to qualify) 
  • Other courses of study leading to advanced degrees such as law and PhD (must be related to your job in order to qualify)
  • Individual courses (must be related to your job and taken at an accredited college to qualify)

Therefore, choose the best option for you! Once you have selected your level of education you want to take courses in, begin doing research on educational institutions that will best fit your needs.

It is typically recommended that full-time employees look into fully-online and accredited universities in order to receive a degree. This will allow for flexibility in your schedule to help you flawlessly complete your education while remaining a full-time employee at Best Buy.

6. After you complete a course, submit paperwork in order to be fully reimbursed

After you complete your courses, log back on to your Tuition Assistance website and submit the Process Request form. Once you submit the request form you will need to submit the following within 90 days of completing the course.

  • Evidence of a satisfactory grade along with the course name and number (Undergraduate must be a C- or better and Graduate must be a B- or better) 
  • Itemized receipts for tuition, textbooks, and registration fees (This includes lab and computer fees) 
  • For CLEP reimbursement, you will need to provide proof of passing

Once you have completed all of the reimbursement paperwork, your reimbursement will be mailed to you!
