The Ruth Abernathy Presidential Scholarship, developed by the past presidents of SHAPE America to honor deserving students, is awarded to three undergraduate students and two graduate students in January of each year. Eligible applicants must be SHAPE America members, be majoring in the fields of health, physical education, recreation, or dance, and submit two letters of recommendation in order to apply. The WISE (Women in STEM Excel) Scholarship was created by Dr. Alexander Sobel to support, empower, and encourage women in Washington to pursue an education in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics-related fields.
