Scholarship Overview

Are you a BIPOC student who is passionate about meteorology? Consider applying for the AMS (American Meteorology Society) Scholarship for Underserved Communities! The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is committed to, and benefits from the full and equitable participation of a diverse community. They are dedicated to advancing core values of diversity, inclusion, and equity across all aspects of the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences. Thus, every year, they award stipends of $6,000 to BIPOC students who plan to pursue a course of study in the atmospheric sciences. 

Recipients of the scholarships earn the $6,000 scholarship in two chunks: $3,000 for their first year, and $3,000 for their second year, upon successful completion of the first. If you fit the eligibility criteria, we encourage you to apply for the AMS Scholarship for Underserved Communities when the time comes! 

Eligibility information

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must be entering your freshman year of college in the upcoming Fall semester and plan on pursuing a course of study (and career) in the atmospheric, oceanic, or hydrologic sciences. Applicants must also meet the below eligibility criteria.
