Winner of the Forte Fellowship smiles in a suit

Today we’re talking about the Forte MBA Fellowship. In this article, we will discuss who is eligible, what the benefits of the fellowship are, and how you can increase your chances of winning a Forte MBA Fellowship. Let’s get started!

    What is a fellowship?

Fellowships are most common for students who are pursuing a high level degree, such as a PhD, graduate degree or doctorate. A fellowship provides funding to students and may provide other benefits as well. Getting a fellowship is a big deal and can be a fantastic way to help you achieve your academic goals, as well as professional goals.

What is a Forte MBA Fellowship?

The Forte MBA Fellowship Program is dedicated to helping more women rise up in business by providing them with support through their business education. The Program provides access to a strong network of women and helps them with professional development. Forte Fellowships are designed to empower motivated women to pursue high level roles in business. The Director of MBA Programs at Forte, Wendy Dukes, describes the Forte Fellowship Program and award winners as:

“Prestigious, competitive awards that are recognized within the business school community and beyond. Forte Fellows exhibit exemplary leadership, represent diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate a commitment to advancing women in business — all of which aligns with Forte’s mission. To date, $400 million has been awarded to more than 17,000 Forte Fellows.”

    Who is eligible?

Forte is dedicated to helping women from all walks of life. In order to be eligible for a Forte Fellowship, you must apply to a Forte partner school and be accepted by that school. Forte has too many partners for us to list here, but we will mention just a few of them. Students can apply to Georgetown, Ohio State University, New York University, John Hopkins, Northwestern, and so many more! But those are just some of the schools that Forte partners with. They also partner with various businesses, corporations, alliances, undergrad programs and more!

    How to apply?

Applying for a Forte fellowship begins by applying to one of Forte’s partner schools. You’ll need to be accepted as a student before you can be considered for a Forte fellowship. Forte Fellowships are awarded by individual schools rather than Forte themselves.

    What are the benefits?

As a Forte Fellow you will receive lifetime benefits. We’ve listed just a few below to give you a sense of the benefits!

    • Your resume will be distributed in the Forte Fellows resume book which is distributed to all Forte partner companies
    • You’ll receive a special invitation to Forte leadership conferences
    • You’ll receive mentoring and the chance to make connections with fellow forte members and fellows

In addition to the things listed above, you’ll also receive generous financial support throughout your MBA!

How can I increase my chances of earning a Forte Fellowship?

Forte is all about raising up strong leaders, so they want to see that you have strong leadership potential. Be sure to mention how you have previously been engaged on campus or in the community, what leadership roles you’ve had before, or any areas that you have taken particular initiative in. Take your time with the application process so that you can showcase your best self! Ashley Lautzenheiser, Director of Pre-MBA Programs at Forte, offers this valuable advice:

“Approach the application process like a part-time job. Commit significant, dedicated time to school research, GMAT prep, and application components every week, as if you were getting paid. This is an investment in yourself, and could pay off in real money, the stronger your application, the stronger your chances of receiving scholarship.”
