    Tips for coding bootcamp students

    Free online coding programs

You might be a little nervous about your coding bootcamp, but that’s okay. If you want to feel a little more prepared, try taking advantage of free online coding courses. They are a good introduction to some of the things you may come across in your actual coding classes!

    Find a community

It might sound strange, but these days there is a community for everything. Try finding a group online or around you that you can be a part of! It’s a great way to meet people and find support from individuals who are going through a similar, or the same, program as you. You can start your search through social media groups or by going to the program/school you are attending and inquiring.

    Income share agreements

Students looking into coding bootcamps scholarships should also investigate income share agreements. The income share agreement is a relatively new model of educational finance where the student does not agree to pay back the amount borrowed, but rather agrees to pay the servicer a certain percentage of their post-graduation income over a set number of years. This results in a more flexible repayment plan and no cash up front.

As this model is relatively new, it is not widely available. However, coding bootcamps are the field of education where they are the most common. Many coding bootcamps offer their own ISAs, and there also exist several third-party servicers. Students with a limited credit history will also find a good match with income share agreements – they typically weigh the earning potential of your program over your credit score.
