Fulbright Canada and Carleton University have established dedicated research chairs in support of educational programming and research. This opportunity will allow extraordinary American scholars and top-tier applied researchers to spend one academic year as a visiting research scholar working in a targeted area of academic inquiry. Eligible topics of inquiry include the Arts and Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship and/or Social Innovation, Environmental Science, Society, Policy, and Media. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship Program is open to Virginia residents who are professional artists or art or art history students who demonstrate exceptional creative ability in their chosen discipline. Applicants must select one discipline to apply for, and submit appropriate samples of their work for this category. The New England Regional Fellowship Consortium, a collaboration of 31 major cultural agencies, will offer at least two dozen awards in the current application cycle. Each grant will provide a stipend of $5,000 for a minimum of eight weeks of research at participating institutions. Awards are open to U.S. citizens and foreign nationals who hold the necessary U.S. government documents. Grants are designed to encourage projects that draw on the resources of several agencies. The History of Art Institutional Fellowships are awarded to six nominated pre-doctoral candidates studying the history of art and related disciplines, each year. Related disciplines may include archaeology, architecture, or classics. Applicants' dissertation research must focus on European art from antiquity to the early 19th century and applicants must be ABD ("all but dissertation" - having completed all the work for a higher degree except the dissertation) by the time their fellowship begins. Each fellowship provides a two-year research appointment hosted by one of the following European art history research centers: the Florence Institute for Art History, The Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (LUCAS), The London Courtauld Institute of Art & Warburg Institute (jointly administered), The Munich Central Institute for Art History, The Paris National Institute for the History of Art, or the Rome Bibliotheca Hertziana.
