The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy
  • There is no evidence the scholarship was previously awarded
  • The scholarship has not been awarded in the past 12 months
  • There is no available contact information

* There are certain exceptions to this, for example if the sponsoring organization is a major corporation or nonprofit with its own scholarship application system.

Scholarship Overview

Are you a current or prospective graduate student interested in becoming an art museum educator or curator? If so, consider applying for the Interpretive Fellowships at Art Museums! The fellowship is open to individuals with a degree in an art-related major who are currently pursuing or contemplating graduate study or professional placement in an art-related field. Applicants should also show interest in interpretive careers in art museums.

The program is offered by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, an organization devoted to advancing the study, conservation, and enjoyment of European art, architecture, and archaeology from antiquity to the early 19th century. The goal of the fellowships is to strengthen the museum educator profession within the art museum community and expand the range of promising career options available to students. The fellowship awards $30,000 for a 9-to-12-month professional development opportunity. If you have an art-related degree and are interested in exploring interpretive careers in art museums, we encourage you to apply!

Eligibility information

The scholarship is open to individuals who have received a degree in art history, art education, studio art or museum studies and who are pursuing graduate study or professional placement in these or related fields. Applicants must also meet the below eligibility requirements.
