The James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program provides support to aspiring students in multiple areas of food and culinary studies. Established in 1991, this scholarship assists aspiring and established culinary professionals who plan to further their culinary education. In the past 25 years, the program has supported over 2,000 recipients with over eight million dollars in financial aid–that is no small potatoes!
This year, the James Beard Foundation offers three types of awards, including scholarships, tuition waivers, and work study grants. The JBF website has specific details about each of the awards. In addition to the aforementioned awards, since 2016, the JBF offers the JBF’s National Scholars Program. This program provides ten $20,000 scholarships to candidates of exceptional talent. Academic merit, as well as personal and professional recommendations, are considered in these awards.
