Dan Coiro Scholarship by CengageBrain
We hope that your 2013 is off to an awesome start! Our first scholarship of the new year is the Dan Coiro Scholarship by CengageBrain. This scholarship started in May 2012 in order to recognize outstanding teaching assistants at colleges and universities. As you may guess, this specific scholarship is in the name of Dan Coiro. Dan was a Chemistry at Rutgers University in New Jersey (you can check out the article about him here) and is going into teaching (according to the article, he abandoned his original plans of medical school to pursue his true calling).
This scholarship is open to students who are interested in the sciences and/or engineering. This scholarship is also essay-based and asks students to write a personal statement. The personal statement should be about solutions to keep/make education (more) affordable. The scholarship committee will also be looking at academics (students need a minimum of a 3.0 GPA), leadership qualities, and character. Students in high school (seniors only), college, and graduate school are all eligible to apply.
The application for this opportunity can be found and completed online. The deadline for this is January 31, 2013!
Best of luck to all students and best of luck in the YEAR 2013!
