The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Inc. (CJJRF) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2008 by Calvin Johnson Jr., All-Pro NFL wide receiver of the Detroit Lions. The Foundation is dedicated to the education, training, and social development of at-risk youth, along with providing financial assistance to community organizations. The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation offers scholarships to graduating high school football student-athletes. Recipients of the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation Scholarship are selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, leadership on and off the field, academic goals, recommendations, and financial need.
What are the application requirements?
- Attend high school as a graduating senior in Metro-Atlanta or surrounding areas
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Completed application form and written statement Official copy of high school transcript (including first semester of senior year)
- Copy of SAT or ACT results
- Copy of College/University Acceptance Letter
- Two letters of recommendation (Student’s football coach must provide a reference)
- Must be available to attend the CJJRF Leadership Conference and Scholarship Extravaganza from June 25-28, 2015
When is the scholarship application due?
The application packet must be postmarked by April 27, 2015.
What is the amount of the scholarship?
The amount varies fro year to year depending on the number of qualified applicants.
