Who is eligible?
This is a scholarship for permanent residents of New England states who have financial need, display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others, a strong work ethic and leadership qualities. If you want to learn more about the specific criteria for qualified applicants here.
What is the amount of the Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship?
Awards from the Phillips Scholarship range from $3,000 to as high as $15,000 in a few cases. In general, the average award each year is in the $6,000 to $7,000 range. In 2018, most new awards were between $3,000 and $10,000.
Award amounts may change from year to year as recipients’ financial situations change. If recipients transfer to a different college, awards will be recalculated to consider the different costs and award packages of the new colleges.
When is the application due?
Notice that there is an option for high school students who want to apply early!*
Regular Deadline – 12 noon, May 1, 2020. Applicants will be notified of decisions in late June.
*Early Response Deadline – 12 noon April 3, 2020. Available only to high school students who have the financial aid information from the college they plan to attend. The first 300 students to submit an application before April 3rd will receive a decision before the college common reply date of May 1st.
