In 1985, McDonalds created the McDonald’s HACER Program to assist Hispanic students as they pursue their higher education goals. The McDonald’s HACER National Scholarship is an outstanding opportunity for students who have a least one parent of Hispanic heritage. Scholarships are worth $25,000 per year. As long as award winners are in good standing, scholarships are for all four years!
Who is eligible to apply for the McDonald’s HACER National Scholarship?
- high school seniors
- legal U.S. residents
- younger than 21 years old
- carry a minimum 3.0 GPA
- eligible to attend a two- or four‑year college or university with a full-time course of study
- willing to disclose other scholarship programs applied for
- planning to enroll and attend an accredited institution in the academic year after your selection
- willing to provide verification of college acceptance
- have at least one parent of Hispanic heritage
These are competitive scholarships that take many factors into consideration. The selection committee considers the applicant’s academic achievements, which requires a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Financial need and community involvement are considered, as well as personal qualities. Personal interviews, either in-person or by phone, are also required. This application requires some time to apply, so plan ahead. Essays not required, but a personal statement and a list of community service projects are. In addition to a transcript, letters of recommendation are required. Finally, a FAFSA report and/or 1040s required to verify financial need.
How much is the McDonald’s HACER National Scholarship worth?
Thirty scholarships worth from $5,000 to $100,000 awarded! Scholarship funds paid directly to the winner’s institute of higher education.
When is the application for this scholarship due?
The application is due on February 3, 2022. By May or June of 2022, winners will be chosen!
