Today’s scholarship is the Life Lessons Scholarship Program. This aim of this scholarship is to support students students who have lost a parent or guardian.
This is one of the most difficult things a young person can deal with–the scholarship wants to to recognize “the character and perseverance [that these students show] in the face of such diversity.” Additionally, families in these situations have to deal with additional financial stress.
The entire application for this program can be found online. Students are asked to submit an essay or video about how the death of their parent or guardian impacted their life. The grand prize will be awarded to two students and is worth $15,000. Life Lessons will be awarding a total of $125,000 in scholarship funds to all students. This scholarship is open to high school seniors who are college-bound.
Students can apply between March 1 and March 31, 2013.
Winning students will be notified in August 2013.
Best of luck to all students!
