The college admissions process can be a very challenging process for students. These challenges extend to paying for college and applying for scholarships. I was a first-generation college student–I get this. Today’s scholarship is in the vein–the Center for Student Opportunity Scholarship. To qualify for this scholarship, neither of your parents can have a four-year college degree.
This is a really cool opportunity (that I wish I knew about when I was graduating from high school). It is a four year renewable scholarship that is open to all first-generation students who are enrolling in a CSO Partner Institution. Luckily, the CSO Partner Institution list is quite extensive and includes schools such as Pomona College, Stanford University, Davidson College, University of Southern California, Yale University, Harvard University, NYU, and many others!
The scholarship application is available online and is really straight-forward (it also includes recommendations and an essay).
The deadline for this scholarship is May 27, 2011, so get started today!
Best of luck to all students!
