The Bonita Jean Olson Memorial Scholarship is open to post-secondary STEM students pursuing a career in aviation or aerospace. Applicants must be enrolled (or committed to attending) an accredited institution and have experience volunteering in STEM or aviation-related events and/or WAI activities within the past year. In their essays, applicants should include detailed explanations of their career plans, goals, and volunteer experiences. While preference will be given to local candidates within the Seattle/Washington state area, all applicants will be considered based on their character, need, community involvement, and accomplishments. Each year, one current WAI member pursuing a STEM major with plans to enter a career in aviation or aerospace will be chosen to receive the $3,000 scholarship. The scholarship is open to international women who want to earn a STEM degree in the U.S. or Canada and are allowed to legally study in the U.S. or Canada. Thus, international women looking to study in the U.S. must have a Green Card, DACA status, or a valid visa.
