The Scholarships360 Research Team reviews all scholarships individually and strives to exclude any scholarship where any of the below applies:

  • The scholarship requires a fee to apply
  • The scholarship provider’s privacy policy allows for the misuse of student data
  • The scholarship requires paid membership in an organization (with certain exceptions for reputable trade organizations and others)
  • Student are required to sign up for a site or service to apply*
  • The scholarship seems primarily used for lead generation** or idea harvesting purposes***
  • The scholarship website has many grammatical errors and/or advertisements
  • The scholarship or scholarship providing organization seem untrustworthy

Scholarship Overview

Are you a high school senior who will soon be graduating from a high school in the New Mexico Chapter area (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, and the portion of Texas in the mountain time zone) and subsequently pursuing a course of study in the physical sciences or engineering at an institution of higher education? If so, you may be eligible for the William M. Olson / Warren E. Taylor and Daniel D. Koleske Science and Engineering Scholarships! Each year, the scholarships award $3,000 to multiple eligible students who submit a transcript, two letters of recommendation, a 1-page statement regarding their goals, as well as their SAT/ACT scores. If you’re a college-bound high school senior residing in the AVS New Mexico Chapter area (New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, and the portion of Texas in the mountain time zone), we encourage you to apply! About AVS New Mexico

The AVS – Science & Technology Society is a non-profit professional society and a member of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). The AVS is the foremost professional organization for practitioners in the many diverse fields that depend on science and technology at low pressures and/or controlled atmospheres. The AVS is dedicated to advancing the science and technology of films and coatings, microelectronics, nanostructures, surfaces and interfaces, plasmas, vacuum, and manufacturing processes. The AVS membership includes technologists, physicists, chemists, materials scientists and engineers who conduct research in these fields and work with vacuum-related processing. The AVS/New Mexico Chapter (AVS/NM) membership includes residents of New Mexico, Oklahoma and that part of Texas in the Mountain Time Zone. A great deal of the Chapter activity centers around the Albuquerque/Los Alamos area because of the major scientific efforts at Sandia National Laboratories, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Intel and the University of New Mexico.
