Are you a current or incoming college student who wants to pursue a career in broadcast journalism? If so, consider applying for the Wes Vernon Broadcast Scholarship! This scholarship is open to college students who demonstrate a commitment to a career in broadcast journalism at an accredited university in the U.S. Both currently enrolled students and those in the process of applying to university are eligible. The scholarship is offered by The National Press Club Journalism Institute, a non-profit affiliate of the National Press Club that provides innovative, practical training to journalists and communications professionals across the country. Each year, the scholarship grants a $5,000 award to one (1) lucky student that can be renewed for up to three years. Over the course of a four-year degree, this equals a total of $20,000 towards one’s educational expenses. If you’re passionate about pursuing a career in broadcast journalism and are looking for some help to pay off your degree, we encourage you to apply!
In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a current or incoming college student who plans to pursue a career in broadcast journalism at any accredited university in the U.S. Applicants must also meet the below eligibility requirements.

In addition to an online application, students must submit an elevator pitch about their interest in journalism, a description of their financial need, 3-5 work samples, and the below application materials.
