Offered by Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology
The Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR) program was established in 1996 to provide supplemental awards to graduate students in support of their research in the fields of integrative and comparative biology. In addition, applicants must be active members of SICB. Each year, awards worth between $850 and $1,000 each are awarded to approximately 25 to 35 students. All funds must be expended directly in support of the proposed investigation. Such expenses may include but are not limited to, costs of supplies, equipment, consumables, and gear necessary to conduct research, costs to cover gas to travel to local field sites, bench fees or equipment fees at field stations, or costs associated with being mobile after getting to a field site.
If you’re a SICB member and graduate student passionate about biological research, we encourage you to apply! Keep on reading to learn more.
