PlaceWorks has established a scholarship program to assist current undergraduate and graduate students in California who are pursuing a degree in Planning, Urban Design, Environmental Planning, or Landscape Architecture. In addition, applicants must identify as American Indian or Alaska Native; Asian; Arabs/Middle Eastern; Black or African American; Hispanic or Latino; and/or Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. PlaceWorks employees and their children are not eligible to apply.
PlaceWorks was founded in 1975 as The Center for Planning & Research and modeled after the principles of the Bauhaus School of Design in Germany, which aimed to bring design disciplines together and integrate individual work efforts into a greater whole. As their name suggests, PlaceWorks is all about places and how they work geographically, environmentally, functionally, aesthetically, and culturally‚ but they're also passionate about how they work, both as a company and with each other.
