The MTAG (Mississippi Resident Tuition Assistance Grant)’s primary objective is to provide educational opportunities for Mississippi residents who wish to pursue in-state postsecondary education and do not already benefit from federal need-based aid. Applicants must be eligible for less than the full Federal Pell Grant as determined by completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In addition, they must have earned a minimum 2.5 GPA throughout high school and a 15 on the ACT. Recipients of the grant may receive funding for up to 8 semesters (12 trimesters) or degree completion, whichever comes first. MTAG awards up to $500 per academic year for freshmen and sophomores and $1,000 per academic year for juniors and seniors.
