Scholarship Overview
The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship program is a great program designed to address the underrepresentation of African American and Hispanic faculty at colleges and universities in the state of Florida by increasing the pool of citizens qualified with Ph.D. degrees to teach at the college and university levels. Each year, up to 50 applicants will be granted fellowships worth $17,000 per year in tuition, fees, and stipend. It is expected that this will help expand employment opportunities in the industry for Black and Hispanic doctoral degree holders. Applicants must also be working at an eligible Florida institution (see list below) and be teaching any field in the Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, Health Sciences, Nursing, or the Visual and Performing Arts.

About Florida Education Fund
The Florida Education Fund (FEF) was funded initially by a major grant from the McKnight Foundation of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and, subsequently, a challenge grant from the Foundation, which required matching funds from the Florida Legislature. As a not-for-profit corporation established in 1984, FEF has provided an avenue to ensure that educational advancement is possible.
