Are you a Black/African resident of Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, or Texas who is a current high school senior or college underclassman? If so, you may be eligible for the Jerry Morris and Summer Houston Scholarships! Each year, the scholarships award up to $2,000 to help assist multiple African American students in defraying the cost of higher education. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of scholastic ability and leadership, and should also be active in extracurricular school/community activities and demonstrate social awareness and involvement. If you’re a Black, current or incoming college student from Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon, or Texas, we encourage you to apply! The Union Pacific Railroad Black Employee Network (BEN)'s mission is to recruit, retain and advance the careers of current and aspiring African-American employees within Union Pacific by promoting and facilitating both personal and professional growth, and by working with Union Pacific Senior Leadership toward an awareness of diversity issues. In accordance with the mission, the Black Employee Network Scholarship Committee administers two scholarship programs.
