Are you an American Indian or Alaska Native undergraduate student pursuing a career as a health professional? If so, consider applying for the IHS Preparatory Scholarship Program! The scholarship is open to American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate students on a pre-med track. Applicants must also be members of federally or state-recognized (or terminated) American Indian Tribes or Alaska Native villages.
The scholarship is offered by the Indian Health Service, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services. They focus on providing medical and public health services to members of federally recognized Native American Tribes and Alaska Native people. By providing funding for young, indigenous future health professionals, the IHS supports American Indian and Alaska Native students on their paths to becoming future leaders for their communities. Each year, the IHS’s Prepatory Scholarship Program awards students varying amounts of funding to help them pay for their education. If you are passionate about becoming a healthcare professional, we encourage you to apply!
Bear in mind that the scholarship accepts applications from December 15th to February 28th of each year.
The scholarship is open to members or descendants of federally recognized, state-recognized or terminated American Indian Tribes or Alaska Native villages enrolled in preparatory courses or prerequisite courses leading to enrollment in eligible health professions degree programs.
