Offered by Dow Jones News Fund
The Dow Jones News Data Journalism Internship is an amazing opportunity for college sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students wanting to pursue a career in data journalism. Selected interns will attend a week of training led by journalists from Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), refining skills like making Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, learning computer-assisted reporting, and analyzing and cleaning data in order to tell rich, often hidden, stories. Then, they will start internships where they apply these skills to issues like education, health care, government, criminal justice, and more. In addition to receiving hands-on experience in their desired field, recipients earn weekly salaries of at least $525 for a minimum of 10 weeks and $1,500 scholarships for students and graduates with federal loans.
To apply to the DJNF college internship program, students must complete an online application, attach supporting documentation, and take a timed, online test. Applicants must attach examples of their work, such as code they have written or links to digital content they produced. If you’ve been looking to get some data journalism experience under your belt, we encourage you to apply!
