Offered by AIST Foundation
The David H. Samson Canadian Scholarship annually awards $7,500 to multiple, full-time post-secondary engineering (or related disciplines) students who hold a minimum 2.5 GPA and want to pursue a career in the steel industry. To apply for the scholarship, interested students must submit a resume, a two-page essay about why they are interested in a career in the steel industry, 1-5 letters of recommendation, and an academic transcript.
In addition to the monetary reward, recipients are granted an opportunity to complete a paid internship at a steel company. If recipients do not accept the internship opportunity and agree to relocate for it, they run the risk of having the scholarship rescinded. The scholarship was established to honor David H. Samson, the past vice president of engineering at Dofasco and past president of the AISE (Association for Iron & Steel Technology).
If this sounds like a good opportunity for you, we encourage you to apply! Keep on reading to learn more.
The AIST Foundation awards more than US $750,000 annually to develop the steel industry's next generation. The foundation is working with the industry to attract young, technology-oriented professionals to its ranks.
