The Charles H. James II & Lucia Bacote James Scholarship is open to post-secondary students attending any Baptist church in West Virginia who are studying business, science, technology, or a math-related field at any post-secondary institution. Special preference will be given to applicants affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Charleston (Shrewsbury St.), the Charleston Black Ministerial Alliance, or the Charleston-Institute (WV) Chapter of the Links Incorporated.

The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation (TGKVF) was created in 1962 by and for the people of the Greater Kanawha Valley area. The Foundation is here to help individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits improve the lives within the community now and for generations to come. TGKVF helps students follow their educational dreams and prepare for their future careers. TGKVF administers over 500 funds and more than 100 of those are designated for statewide scholarships.
